Happy Thanksgiving!
I got to go home this weekend and hang with family and friends. It was hackin awesome. Although the Utah weather has robbed me of my thanksgiving break... I had to leave Saturday night instead of Sunday night because of a stupid snowstorm. (But I admit it was a good idea, It is 8 inches and still snowing right now) Supposedly, there are a ton of car accidents on I-15 right now too. Wow this is cheerful.
Anyways, It was good to see family and good to see Harry Potter. But there were a few parts where all I could think was "Whaaaaat?" ugh bleh (during the movie and being with family haha!). The next movie is gonna be so sweet though! I spent the entire drive to Cedar City yesterday discussing Harry Potter and Smallville with a friend... Now I ask you. where does that put me on the dork scale? The drive from Cedar City to Salt Lake is soooo boring. And I absolutely HATE driving through Utah Valley. That is the reason why I will never attend BYU or UVU. I dont hate the schools, I just hate the location. Sorry!
Speaking of BYU vs. Utah. Utah wins by one point because they block the kick? How often does that happen? That is the only football game I will watch. And Yes, I am a BYU fan... ish. That is pretty complicated eh? I will never want to attend BYU, yet I root for their football team. In fact, I really want to go to the U for graduate school. uh? My mom graduated from the Y and my dad graduated from the U. My life is so complex and split... Can I just say that part of the reason I like BYU is because blue is my favorite color... haha lame reason? (I dont care at all about football, but school colors... is an ENTIRELY different story) I guess I don't mind the color red either. hmmm... i guess I am questioning my BYU loyalty. LIFE CRISIS!

Self Defense
hey hey hey
I have had an interesting few weeks. Final projects and tests have taken over my life. But I guess that is part of the college experience.
The Relief Society activity was about self defense this last week. We had it because a girl in our ward got mugged in a parking lot. They had two cops come in and talk to us about staying safe. I think they just made us all ridiculously paranoid. They talked about spyware and like cameras in our apartments and men hiding underneath our cars. They talked a lot about peeping toms and crazy stalker boyfriends. Most of the girls were completely dazed by the end of the meeting. They gave us all rape whistles and I won some sweet hackin Lipstick PepperSpray. (WHAAAA!) totally cool. I can't wait until someone tries to attack me so I can spray them with my pepperspray disguised as a lipstick tube.... I dont even wear lipstick. muahahaha. Then I will kick them where it hurts (I may or may not be watching to many action movies lately)
Also they totally convinced me to get a concealed weapons permit when I turn 21. Watch out world, Janessa is goin to be packin heat. The cop talked about his grandma and how she always has a weapon on her person. I just cant wait til I am old and people think I am defenseless.... but I am absolutely going to blow their minds when I turn into Granny Dangerous with a gun. O ya... (I am definitely watching to many movies lately)

Pity Friends, Babies, Cigarettes, and Group Projects
Happy November everyone!
So I have a sad/pathetic story. Do not think less of me because of it. It happened last week in church. I have been in salt lake and with family, so I hadn't been to this ward in a few weeks. I don't really know anyone there so I just went up to the front of the room and sat by myself. Big Mistake! Everything was fine until sunday school. (it was the fifth sunday, so we spent all three hours in the chapel) Anyways, the guy who was teaching sunday school was talking about being member missionaries and including everyone. He started to talk about how he sat by himself in his new ward, and that was when I knew I was in trouble. (i am still sitting alone in the front row) He says that everyone is sitting in groups, while I am shrinking in my seat just praying that he won't spot me. Of course he does see me and he says, "wait, everyone is sitting in a group except for you. what is your name?" The ENTIRE ward gives me the your a l0ser/i pity you look. I introduce myself and he asks, "is this your first week?" hahaha! nope, I have been here all semester. My reply results in about 5 seconds of awkward silence until the teacher just asks if he can sit by me next week..... o my hackin. you have got to be kidding me. I say yes, and by now I am bright red and the rest of the ward is just laughing at my loserness. So, of course, this week I had three people approach me and say hi and introduce themselves. The whole ward thinks I am loser with no friends. So now I have like ten pity friends in my ward... grrreat. Why couldn't I get through the semester without being humiliated in front of the entire ward?
I was at Walmart yesterday, and as I was checking out. The Walmart lady looks over my shoulder and stares...She then says, "ma'am! look at your baby" The baby in the other line had got into the mom's purse and found her cigarettes. The baby got a hold of a cigarette and put it in her mouth. The mom is still completely oblivious, while the older daughter sees and quickly gets rid of the cigarette. This is just a really funny mental image, but also kind of sad. I guess it is a "you had to be there story" But I thought that I would just share it anyways. haha, o man.
This week I worked on two final group projects....by my hacking self. Why do I get stuck with the loser groups who have the work ethic of a half dead sloth? I care too much about my grade to just fail the presentation and let the other group members learn a lesson. ugh I don't even know how to handle these kind of people. I know that I will always have to deal with people like this.... but I sure don't have to enjoy working with them though.

The test jitters (or spiders) and My amazing attempt at Raquetball
Greetings...
Life as we know it continues on. Midterms have come and gone. Is everyone ready for winter?
I had a test in my sports psychology class today. Dr. Lopour's tests are different, but I really like them. The test is not multiple choice, but it is fill in the blank and short answer. Most people say that these are harder, but I think that they are much easier. Well, I studied dilligently, and I was prepared for the test. Most of the people in the class were ill prepared and had the test jitters (but not me). I was relatively calm, but I had reached up to touch my ear when I felt a tickle on my fingers. I look at my hand and there is a spider right there! I fling it onto the desk and I am frozen thinking........huh? The girl next to me sees the spider and freaks out. I smash it with my foot, and I am still mildly confused. I think that dang spider was trying to throw me off my game. For the rest of my class I thought I was covered in spiders. (I totally aced the test though. score!) I went through a phase that I was completely terrified of spiders... but I guess I'm not anymore. The spider battle arena my brothers made may have made me realize that spiders aren't that bad... but still... I had a hackin spider crawling on me right before a huge test. gross.
My sports class just started the raquetball section. All I knew about raquetball was Shar was really good at it. yep. So Dr. Taylor spent thirty minutes trying to teaching me how to play hackin raquetball. I am pretty sure people just sat and laughed at me while I tried to hit the stupid ball towards the front wall. ugh. I hit my self with the ball and raquet several times, and the two other girls with me just laughed at my pathetic attempts at being coordinated. The second day went better, but I still have this nasty habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. (i.e. ball flying at my face, with opponent in mid swing)
Have you ever tried to get into a class, and all of the faculty just give you the run around. I am trying to get into this class, but I need special permission. My advisor sent me to Dr. Lambson, he sent me to Dr. Taylor, she sent me on a raging hunt for the guy who is supposedly teaching the class. I try to look him up. He is not on the faculty list (as far as SUU is concerned... this guy doesn't exist) Are you hackin' kiddin me? I feel like I am hunting for a mythical creature. Just put me in the classsss! So registration starts tomorrow... I may or may not wake up at midnight tonight and be the first to register for next semester classes. Now I ask you... Am I cool or ridiculously lame? ponder that.

Last Names, Air Conditioning, and My Own Old Lady Choir
A couple of interesting things happened to me this week. I was in Relief Society, and the girl finished the lesson. I was totally ready to get out of there and go home. The presidency decided that we all needed to stand up and introduce ourselves. This made us get out eight minutes overtime! (on a FAST sunday) (Not that I was keeping track or anything) So anyways, this girl stood up and introduced herself, ... at first I thought that I heard her wrong, but no. Her last name is... (pause for dramatic effect) Savage. That. is. the. coolest. last. name. ever. I would die to have my last name be Savage. "Hi, my name is Janessa Savage" muahahahha! I think that you could get away with so much crap if that was your last name. People automatically wonder if you really are a savage. Awesome! Also, a good last name would be Rogue. tee hee. This is what I foresee in my future. (a cool last name... ? is that lame or weird, I can't decide). No one would ever forget your last name, especially if you acted like a savage or a rogue. This is the best excuse to act crazy. I may or may not introduce myself as Janessa Rogue Savage from now on... (just to warn you)
My room in my apartment is very plain. But there is one thing that drives me crazy. The air conditioning vent is right under the desk. So the AC turns on and the lower half of my body FREEZES! I just sit at this desk and wonder why I am shivering when it is ninety degrees outside. Bah! Ridiculous! (and this is the story of my pathetic life as a college student). I know that it will hopefully be nice when it is winter time, but I am on edge about the vent under my frostbitten toes. Don't mess with Janessa Rogue Savage (she is feeling more and more like a savage rogue)
Finally, I want to tell you about my 8 AM swimming class. I wake up early and jump into a pool. (not the best start to a full day of classes) We start swimming, and then we hear this eery moaning coming from the other side of the pool... It is super creepy if you don't know what is happening. I start to listen closer and I realize that people are singing... These (really) old ladies have water aerobics in the shallow end. And they sing throughout their entire workout. No offense, but they don't exactly sound like the Tabernacle Choir. Who sings during water aerobics?!? creepy. I recognize a couple of the songs, and they are really old and classic (and depressing) The echo is so bad that I cannot decipher most of the old lady songs. My coach said that the lifeguards have all of the songs memorized. (Those poor poor lifeguards, I pity them and fear for their sanity) So the entire forty minutes of lap swimming is improved by old women moaning/singing on the other side of the pool. (it is the best part of my day?.... not! Food is the best part of my day! how could you think otherwise)So I thought that I would just tell you about my Monday and Wednesday mornings, (watching people struggle to swim, and watch the life force of old women ebb from their mortal bodies via their vocal chords) I hope that you enjoyed my lovely experiences as a hackin college student. Ciao!

Utilities and Chocolate Covered Almonds
Happy Sunday everyone.
You would not believe what happened this weekend. On Friday I came home from running and turned on the shower. I kinda noticed that the water was not getting very warm, but I was so hot and sweaty I didn't even care. Later that day my roommate asked if our gas was turned on, because she couldn't get the hot water to work. We both soon realized that our gas has been turned off. I ask my roommate if the manager ever told her if we had to do anything when we moved in and she said no. At the first of the year my roomie promised to make sure that everything was worked out with the utilities so we didn't have to worry about. Naturally, she forgot to do it. They turned off our gas, and the manager never even mentioned that we had to call the gas company and change it to our names. o hackin.... so due to my roommate's and the manager's forgetfullness and lack of responsibility. I had to spend a full weekend without any hot water. grrrreeeaattt. I can also confirm that cold showers are absolutely no fun, (unless you go running beforehand). oi. I am such a wimp when it comes to the cold. I don't know how I survived three seasons of lacrosse practice in January and February.
Since the beginning of my life, I have been very dependant of food. (not just physically, but emotionally also.) Some girls need boyfriends or shopping to deal with stuff, but not me. I need food. And the food that I have been using to eat my feelings lately is chocolate covered almonds from Costco... ya... It is hackin delicious and heaven on earth (I reccommend them) BUT I ran out of them on Thursday, and there is no Costco in Cedar City. So I have had a slight break down this weekend due to my addiction to chocolate covered almonds... (Pathetic story) I watched the stupid Benjamin Button movie and ate the almonds the whole three hours... uhhhhh wow I am so cool. AND I have two tests to study for, and I totally blew off studying so I could eat and watch pointless television. .. I may or may not gain a million pounds this semester. I hope that next semester that I will be so busy that I can't afford to procrastinate. And for those of you who know me... I NEVER procrastinate... until now. Well, I am guessing that my bad test scores will get me motivated again soon. So I will just have to tough it out until I bomb these tests. (And tough it out means watching pointless television while desperately craving chocolate covered almonds almost to the point of insanity...) so.... on that happy note. I am going to go watch a stupid movie.
Later.

Pine Trees, Dishes, and the Cedar City Church Scene
Happy Birthday to my brothers! Artem's birthday was yesterday, and Devin's birthday is tomorrow. yay!
Alright. down to business.
My classes are going well. I am doing prerequisites right now, so my classes are pretty easy. My swimming class is surprisingly easy. and I am half way done with my biology online class. Score! I am trying to motivate my hospitality management group to do the project right now instead of waiting til the end of the semester. I will let ya know how that works out.
I was running to one of my classes and I passed this gigantic pine tree on campus. As I pass the tree I see this girl just crawl out from underneath the branches, and then I see the guy come out too. They start folding a plastic tarp and a sleeping bag! They are totally living in the giant pine tree on campus. what? Now that is cheap housing. The hackin pine tree has some secret hide out spot underneath. That is probably where all of the people go to smoke or something between classes. o man, I probably had the stupidest look on my face when the girl popped out of no where!
My roommates don't believe in cleanliness. I have never seen a pile of dishes grow that high out of the sink. wow. I want to just clean their dumb dishes, but I don't know what cupboards they put them in when they are clean. My room is above the kitchen, and my roomies forget that they are cooking and they burn a lot of food. Almost everyday I run downstairs to make sure our apartment is not on fire. oi. The story of my life.
I went to my new ward today. and.... The girls outnumber the guys three to one.. of course. always in cedar city. I walk in and everyone is just watching (and judging) everyone else. None of the guys are good looking, so now, (naturally) I am not even going to try and get ready for church anymore. yes! ponytail and whatever dress i can find each sunday. score!
Well, I don't have much else to say about school, except my incapability in finding employment. (and even I don't want to hear me whine about it)
Peace out. I gotta go downstairs and see if anything is on fire again.
